One of the most memorable experiences was visiting Lake Bishoftu, where the calm volcanic lakes are surrounded by green hills and beautiful resorts. The peaceful atmosphere, fresh air, and stunning views created a perfect setting to relax and appreciate Ethiopia’s natural beauty. In Addis Ababa, the vibrant capital city, I experienced a wonderful mix of modern life and deep cultural heritage. The city is alive with energy, friendly people, and colorful traditions. One of the most special moments was participating in a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony. From the roasting of fresh green coffee beans to the grinding and brewing in a clay jebena, the entire process is both cultural and spiritual. The aroma of freshly roasted coffee fills the air while guests gather together, sharing conversation and hospitality. It was a beautiful demonstration of Ethiopian culture and community. During the cultural activities, we also had the chance to witness the preparation of Araki, a traditional Ethiopian distilled drink. Watching the local process and learning how it is carefully produced using traditional methods was fascinating and gave us deeper insight into local customs and rural life. Another highlight was experiencing Enjera (Injera) baking, Ethiopia’s famous sourdough flatbread made from teff. Seeing how the batter is poured onto the large clay cooking plate (mitad) and baked into the soft, spongy bread was amazing. Tasting fresh injera with traditional dishes made the cultural experience even more authentic and memorable. Our journey to Debre Libanos and its surrounding areas was equally breathtaking. The dramatic cliffs, lush landscapes, and views of the Blue Nile Gorge create an incredible natural panorama. Visiting the historic monastery and exploring the peaceful highlands made the experience both scenic and spiritual.
