Day 1 — Addis Ababa → Arba Minch
Enter Southern Ethiopia
Begin your journey south from Addis Ababa.
Depending on the final arrangement, travel by road or domestic flight toward Arba Minch.
The scenery changes as you leave the capital and enter Ethiopia’s Rift Valley landscapes.
If arriving with sufficient time, begin exploring the area.

Day 2 — Dorze & Lake Chamo
Highland Culture & Southern Landscapes
Travel into the surrounding highlands to visit Dorze, an area famous for its distinctive bamboo houses, weaving traditions and cultural heritage.
Spend time learning about local life before returning toward Arba Minch.
Depending on your itinerary, add a Lake Chamo boat trip.
The lake is known for its populations of hippos, crocodiles and birdlife.

Day 3 — Arba Minch → Konso → Jinka
Terraced Hills & Cultural Landscapes
Travel toward Konso, one of southern Ethiopia’s most distinctive cultural landscapes.
Explore the area’s remarkable stone terraces and traditional settlements before continuing toward Jinka, one of the main gateways to the Omo Valley.
The route introduces you to increasingly remote landscapes.

Day 4 — Mursi Community & Mago National Park
Into the Omo Valley
Today you head toward Mago National Park and the surrounding Mursi area.
With your local guide, learn about the community’s traditions, daily life and environment.
The experience should be approached with cultural sensitivity. Your guide will help explain appropriate behavior around photography and interaction.
Depending on conditions and the agreed itinerary, you may also enjoy a wildlife drive through the park.
Overnight: Jinka
Day 5 — Jinka → Key Afer → Turmi
Markets & the Hamer Region
Travel toward Turmi, stopping at a local market when the schedule permits.
Key Afer Market is particularly interesting on its designated market day, when people from surrounding communities gather for trade and social activity.
Continue toward Turmi, one of the main centers for exploring the Hamer region.

Day 6 — Hamer Cultural Experience
A Day Among the Hamer
Spend more time in the Turmi area rather than rushing through it.
Visit a Hamer community and learn about traditional livelihoods, agriculture, livestock, clothing, body decoration and social traditions.
If an appropriate traditional ceremony is taking place during your visit, your guide can help arrange attendance where possible.
Important: ceremonies are community events, not scheduled tourist performances. Their occurrence cannot be guaranteed.
Overnight: Turmi
Day 7 — Turmi → Karo Communities
Along the Omo River
Continue toward the Omo River and the Karo area.
The journey itself is part of the adventure: remote roads, dry landscapes, scattered settlements and dramatic river scenery.
Visit a Karo community and learn about local traditions and artistic practices.
The Karo are particularly known for distinctive body painting and decorative traditions.
Depending on the itinerary, continue toward the river viewpoints for sunset.
Overnight: Omo Valley / Turmi area
Day 8 — Omo Valley → Jinka → Return Journey
One Last Morning in Southern Ethiopia
Enjoy a final morning in the Omo Valley before beginning the journey back toward Jinka and onward travel.
Depending on your final itinerary and flight/road arrangements, the return can be extended or connected with another destination.
